Christmas market returns

A gift stall at a Christmas Market

The popular Christmas market, organised by Farnham Town Council, is set to return to the town centre and the Mercure Bush Hotel on Sunday 13 December.

Between 10am and 4pm Castle Street will become a traffic-free market place for over 100 festive stalls. The market, which is being sponsored by Specsavers, Kidd Rapinet and Trueman & Grundy will offer a range of edible gifts, fashion accessories, Christmas decorations, clothing, jewellery and giftware. There will be live music onstage and a number of vendors will be selling freshly cooked food for shoppers to enjoy at the market.

A short walk away from Castle Street, the Bush Hotel courtyard will be the location for a live Nativity. Visitors will also be able to pre order their Christmas tree for delivery to their home. Father Christmas will be busy in his grotto in the hotel conference suite alongside more stalls and hot drinks available from the hotel.

Councillor Jill Hargreaves, Lead Member for Tourism and Events says: “Last year was the inaugural market and it proved to be a big success. Being able to wander freely without the worry of traffic makes the market popular with families.

“We have some excellent stalls attending so there will be no shortage of inspiration for last minute Christmas presents or treats that can be enjoyed by family and friends over the festive season. I would like to express my thanks and gratitude to Specsavers, Kidd Rapinet and Trueman and Grundy for sponsoring the event.”

Alongside the Christmas market, the regular Farmers’ Market will also be taking place in Central car park. Shoppers will be able to collect all they need for Christmas, including wreaths, Christmas produce and pre-ordered turkeys.

The Farmers’ Market will be open from 10am to 3.30pm and offers a wide range of fresh local produce direct from the producer.
