Pupils from More House School in Frensham have had the opportunity to conduct their weekly school council meeting in the formal surroundings of the council chamber at Farnham Town Council.

The Mayor of Farnham, Councillor John Ward invited the students to conduct their weekly Pupil Voice Committee in the Council Chamber after meeting the headmaster earlier in the year.

On arrival at the Town Council office, the pupils were greeted by the Mayor who was wearing full ceremonial robes.

Councillor John Ward, Mayor of Farnham says: “It was a pleasure to welcome pupils from More House School to Farnham Town Council. I was honoured to host a very entertaining question and answer session on ‘Life as the Mayor and the work of Farnham Town Council’ before passing the meeting over to the pupils.”

The committee was chaired by head boy, Danny de Vries Robbe. He oversaw a lively debate about school uniform, recycling within school and charitable deeds.

More House School’s headmaster, Jonathan Hetherington, expressed gratitude to Councillor Ward and to Farnham Town Council for affording his pupils such an excellent opportunity to develop their understanding of local government.

It is hoped that holding a school council meeting in the Town Council chamber will become a regular event.
